Dr. Nikiforov graduated from Pirogov’s Russian National Research Medical University in Moscow. He completed his residency training in psychiatry and a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. He is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in Psychiatry (since 2005) and Geriatric Psychiatry (since 2008). He Prior to joining Dr. Galynker at The Galynker Center for Bipolar Disorder, Dr. Nikiforov served as the Chief of the specialized Geriatric Inpatient Unit and was the Director of ECT at Mount Sinai Morningside Medical Center (formerly St. Luke’s) for 15 years. He also has extensive experience working in Consultation Liaison, Adult Inpatient, Geriatric, Emergency and Outpatient Psychiatry. He prides himself as a hands-on, empathic clinician with experience working with a broad spectrum of psychiatric conditions in the full panoply of clinical settings.
